Thanks to FlyBry for the idea...I found a great deal on the mufflers and tips. Pre-2002 cars will need to get tips from your muffler shop at installation.
I talked to John at hottexhaust.com. Very nice guy for being a Canadian (BIG Cowboys fan!).
Call!! 866-747-0377 (No on line ordering)
Custom exhaust as follows:
2 Magnaflow mufflers p/n14615 @ 69.37 ea. x2 = $138.74
2 Magnaflow Tips p/n 35122 @ 27.52 ea. x2 = $ 55.04 (tips are not listed on the site but are available)
Total Parts = $193.78
Shipping - expect between $10-15
Install - expect between $100-150 inluding teh resonator removal!
So for about $325 - $350....have a great sounding, great looking exhaust.

http://www.hottexhaust.com</a

Magnaflow stainless is pretty high quality stuff. Why pay $1500 plus install for "Tuner" one
I just think that is insane. The stock piping is small, yes, but who cares. How much benifit is there to going to a 2.5 or 3"?? probably not as much as there is in replacing the restrictive mufflers

There was a dyno test on the S4 forum of an a6 2.7t with no resonator and similar mufflers
that added 12 hp at the back wheels - or 5% approx.
The biggest benifit to me though is shifting USING MY EARS AND NOT HAVING TO LOOK AT THE DAMN TACK TO FIGURE OUT WHAT RPM I AM AT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is stock really that restictive? Everybody seems to be mos int in sound...
Thought I read stock mufflers are flow-thru, straight-thru? Also, in messing around with turbo backpressure, is one shifting the response range,i.e., better top-end, poorer low-end? Hard to believe a 5% increase in bhp.
