Alternative exhaust tips (A8 chrome) - opinions please ???
Here is my alternative approach to chrome exhaust tips - I still am undecided if I will keep them and am intested in what you all think. These are the A8 4.2 tips from the Audi accessory catalog.

If you want to do this, go buy the set of A8 tips from your local Audi dealer and when you install them note three things:
1. I found that I had to take a vice grips and just slightly bend down the inner lip of the A6
exhaust about 1/8 inch. This provides a little lip for the bottom screw of the A8 extension to grab on to.
2. If you adjust the top 2 screws to about 1/2 way in - this fits (just barely).
3. The only problem I had was that the valance had only about 1/16 of an inch clearence from the tips - too close. I noticed that the bottom of the valance is screwed into the underlying plastic in the center so I added a screw just inboard of both tips and it pulled the valance up so that I have about 1/2 inch clearence.

Looks better than skinny j-shaped extensions. Considered putting them on upside down?...
That way the openings would be vertical, but the oval appearance might look pretty dumb.
This shot shows the least complimentary angle of the other extensions: <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/9651/car2.jpg">
