Default WOW!..... got to drive a KO4'd A6 2.7T... TIP...yes I said TIP...

I got to do a back to back comparison of my car with this one. In terms of performance mods I have the Xchip and a custom exhaust, it is a pretty quick car.

I drove the the KO4 car first on a familiar run. Unfortunately it was during the day and traffic did not permit as many opportunities to open it up but I did get several short runs in.

The first thing I noticed was how smooth and unstrained the car seemed even at speed. Then I really put my foot in it, then I noticed how it just planted you in your seat as the tach ran up to redline. At one point I was in second gear and hit the gas and was at 90+ in the blink of an eye, more like a missle than a car. The owner still has to sort out a few things. He is waiting for a high pressure fuel pressure regulator and the correct software. The power is so smooth and so abundant. I believe when the owner gets this thing dialed in he will get in to the 12's.

Then I got in my car ran the same course, very disappointing. I knew I shouldn't have driven it. It will now take weeks for that test drive to wear off. Kidding sort of, my car is quick, that one is just plain fast. Boy I wish Audi sold the 2.7T with KO4's WOW WOW Wow wow....!!!

Default Here is why Audi didn't give us the KO4 with Tips

Somebody else once posted this here as well.

"As well as weight reduction on certain transmissions, it is important to increase torque capacity to enable large series transmissions to be replaced by a smaller series. Decisive in this direction is knowledge about customer related duty cycles. Extensive measurements on public roads were evaluated. These showed that current traffic conditions do not allow long periods of full load running, enabling the test times of the high torque range to be significantly reduced. In comparison to the first layout design the 5 HP 19 and 5 HP 24 endures a 17% respectively 25% higher torque. (figure 4)."

Plenty of Tips are breaking with modified engines. People rarely comment about that, because they know the risk, and should know better. The only reason I know, is because I see them in the shop.

Doesn't mean it won''t be fun while it lasts :-)<ul><li><a href="http://www.sovereign-publications.com/auto-art-2.htm">The whole article.</a></li></ul>

OK, chart shows 420/520NM (309/383 lb.-ft.) torque cap @ 7200/6200RPM. Which applies to 2.7T?

Exactly, K04 and the auto/tip tranny is not a good idea.

Default AWD has the lower limit, because all 4 whls grip

which means less slip, which means driveline shock travels back through the rest of the system instead of spinning the wheels.
