I recently discovered a way of getting to additional diagnostic information on my A6 4.2.

The way to get there is quite simple. Press the recirculate button, keep it in, and simultaneously press the "up arrow" vent control. This will cause both the temperature displays to change to 0 and 00.

Now by pressing the left temperature control, the left display will change up to 1 on the first press. Keep going until you reach 18 or 19. Now press the recirculate button again, and the 2 temp displays will be converted into a digital rev counter on 18 or a digital speedometer on 19.

Apart from that, there are close on 80 other codes and displays that you can call up, and I would like to know if anybody out there can possibly give me the explanation on what some of the other codes mean.

By the way, my car is right hand drive, and the controls as I have indicated might work the other way round for left hand drives.

After extensive searching, I have found the codes for the A3/4, but they are not the same as for the A6. Anynody know where to find it?

Let me re-phrase. I found the way of activating the display of the codes on the climate control displays. What I am after is the meaning of all the different codes.

Someone did send me a list of similar codes applicable on the Audi A4, but it is a different set of codes than that of the A6.

Just press the "Auto" button again to get back to the standard climate control settings.
