Default Causes of vibrations...gimme' all your culprits! Please.

The 4.2 is getting its 30k job tomorrow...just the routine stuff and a repair on the long storage door for the drivers door...plus, the one nagging complaint I've had about the car...the fuggin' vibration at all speeds...it is a fairly gentle, yet annoying, continuous vibration, that is NOT rhythmic (like a wobbly wheel)...can feel it coming up through the seat...also slightly felt in the steering wheel...basically the whole car has this irregular vibration...noticeable on smooth roads at any speed above ~20 mph...

Last time in they balanced the wheels...no effect. Brand new tires, no effect. Different wheels and tires, no effect.

I know some people had issues with driveshafts...any other solutions out there? I'm prepared to leave it with them for a week or two to figure this out...otherwise I need a new car...1200 miles to and from Vegas would have been a lot more pleasureable without the unwanted vibratory massage!

Default I've had that on the 2.7T and it got better with wheel balance. But others have said to watch for

control arm bushings. Previously my A4 needed them; But dealer service didn't think that this was the culprit on the A6 (at 35k service). It is still there albeit at a very low level and only around 55-65. If you can find the real fix then we'd all be better off.

Default mine was tie rod ends, and tires with about 20% tread left. Also, how many miles are on the car

maybe time for new shocks?

Default I think I am ready to tackle my 60ish vibe also

I have been putting it off bec. it seems to be a b*tch to get a dealer to actually find it and fix it. I did try the tire rotation to no avail also; FrankM2.7 had the drive shaft problem as did Midori (I think). I am tempted to live w/ it until my next Audi arrives.

Similarly, I left the 2.7T behind on a road trip bec. the vibration is too irritating for any type of extended driving.

Default Only 30k...8k on the tires...but this has been present for at least 20k now...

it does seem worse these past few thousand miles...but I think I might just be more sensitive to it...the problem is that the roads are all bumpy around the dealer and it is very difficult to distinguish on bumpy roads...need very smooth roads to notice...and unfortunately, where I live and drive everyday...the roads are smooth!

Default Yeah...I'm tempted to get something else...if it can't be fixed...

it is too annoying and before I drop any other $$$ into the car, I want to make sure it can be fixed...I just wish the new S4 was here...I'd hafta' get one.

Default My 2.7t is going in next week for shimmy again--my last 2 Passats were much smoother-

Sometimes I wish I just got another Passat--the A6 is not worth the $19k more than my Passat V6.
