Answer me two things if you will....
Noticed black greasy blobs all over my front right wheel this afternoon. Called dealer, said it could be a cracked CV joint/boot? Splattered grease all over the inside of the wheel and on some of the spokes.
First: anyone know if this is the cause, cracked CV boot or whatever?
Second, after dropping the car off to service, service advisor was not sure if it was covered under Audi Assured. I thought everything but the brake pads and wipers were covered under Audi Assured. Anyone care to confirm/comment, much appreciated.
Thanks.

Could be the CV boot...(m)
Also, Audi has a "list" of certain items that aren't covered under Audi Assured. I don't know if the CV boot is covered or not (haven't seen the list) but there are things that aren't covered.
Basically, if they consider this a maintenance item then they won't cover it with Audi Assured (once you are out of the original factory warranty).

Yup, sounds like a boot to me...logically, it would be covered...
they should not wear out until ~100,000 miles...but one can get torn by some road hazard also. Usually wear out quickest in hot climates.

Classic signs of a cracked CV boot.
Don't go long without getting it repaired (not that you would), because it will lead to CV joint failure if dirt enters the joint.
I have heard CV boots being called "normal wear items" before, and hence not covered, but I would think they should pick up the tab on this. The boot is cheap, but its probably a couple of hours of labor for replacement.
BTW, what wheels do you have? The real RS4 or Audi Accessories RS4 wheels or?

I have (plus followup)....
The Audi accessories RS4 type 17", no replica.
Indeed, they fixed it in an hour same day. It was the CV boot. Audi Assured covered it.
Same day service! Damn I love this dealership!
Thanks to all who responded.
