Default Brake replacement options for 2000 A6 2.8 Avant?

Hi all, long time no post! Anyway, the dealer informed me that the front rotors and rear pads needed replacing, at the tune of about $650. I called APR to check out their Level 1 brake setup, and they informed me that only a Level 3 will exist. I was curious as to why a Lvl 1 and 2 show up on the site if only 3 exists. (Doesn't this make the Lvl 3 a Lvl 1 in actuallity since nothing else is offered?) After talking to them I realized that the set offered will far surpass my daily driving needs and will never be used to anything near its potential, so it just doesn't fit my needs. Do any of you know of a brake replacement set offered by any of the other retailers that will be a good basic upgrade from factory? Thanks all,

DT Sealy

Default Check out www.BIRA.org (or is it .com?) for rotors to fit your calipers...or new rotors and calipers

What wheel size? Stop-techs require at least 17". There are several rotor and caliper combos featuring Porsche/Brembo with Colman or A8 rotors that will still fit 16" wheels. Then pad choice is up to you.

HTH

Default Here's what I did on my '98 2.8q....

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/8639/x-drilled_rotor.jpg"></center><p>Front rotors- Zimmerman cross drilled from AWE; $150/pair including shipping
Front pads- Hawk Ferro Carbon HPS Compound part # HB269 from Weston MotorSports (888)558-0631; $90 as I recall
Rear- stock pads and rotors replaced just before the 3/50 factory warranty ran out.

Front setup offers more fade resistance, better rain performance, more brake bite, less brake dust. When the rear pads go, I'll get another set of Hawks. Love 'em on the 911 too.
