0 to 60 Times - The delays of a manual transmission??

Re: 0 to 60 Times - The delays of a manual transmission??
Great stuff! I've been wondering how much the pro vs amateur shifting affects 0-60 times. You definitely could have cut time off by running to redline. A bit of practice and you can reliably shift just before the limiter/cutoff kicks in. As an aside, my chip moves the rev limiter up about 700 RPM which I discovered by accident at the track 2 weeks ago when I was concentrating so hard on hitting a braking zone right that I forgot to upshift a quarter mile up the straight. Since I learned this, I have experimented once or twice with launches and can (possibly my imagination?) notice the difference it makes to avoid the 2-3 shift in the 0-60 sprint.

That may not be the case with a recoded Tip. 1st gear in a Tip is 3.665:1 while 1st in a 6 spd
is 3.5:1. 2nd in a Tip is 1.999:1 and in a 6 spd, it is 1.889:1. 0-60 in a Tip will be attained part way in 2nd in a Tip. At WOT in D the Tips higher 1st gear doesn't auto shift at 2K but screams to redline and does a redline auto shift. Could this make up for a .6 second difference in 0-60? Hell yes. One shift which is faster than human engagement may make up for the slight weight disadvantage. If 6 speed guys want to dump their clutch at 5K to get the jump out of the whole, by the tenth launch from 0-60 something will be burning and slipping; unlike the normal "D" launch of the Tip. I wonder at what 0-60 test measurement the 6 speed times would start to increase for good.

You may be able to speed up sampling rate

Here's an old run that I did.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/option_screen.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/option_screen.html</a</li></ul>
