Default I RTFM, still can't figure out if BOSE features working?

I set the on volume and GALA, but when I turn the radio on, no matter the volume setting I program, it comes on at what ever volume I last turned it off at. Also, it doesn't seem as if the GALA works. Is there a minimum speed I need to be going? Any ideas? How should I really test it to see if it's working

Default volume setting is only a max

It usually doesn't affect your actual volume because it is only a volume limiter.

Hmm... I did not know that, but it explains what I've observed. Smart feature.

Default Supposed to automatically adjust radio volume...

when you go from high-speed (noisy) driving to low speed...so you don't hafta turn the radio down when you get off the highway...
works +/- sometimes I think it turns it down too much.

Default Not sure if this works on your models car, but try this...

On my car, 2001 A4, this also works on S4's, hold down 2 while turning the stereo on. THis will put the stereo in GLA "test" mode. Do this at a stop, then as you drive, it will show you in decibels how much the volume rises. I get this only to work with the radio, not a CD. Give it a shot and see if it works.

Default Do others agree?

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it and let you know. Do others agree with radio only functioning for the GALA?

Default You're not supposed to HEAR GALA working-that's the idea. It rides volume relative to noise.

GALA is not a perfect system, but it does work to a reasonable extent.

Default I can actually hear the GALA working with a cassette in.

I had Zep's Physical Graffiti in and had it up loud with the windows down. I noticed the volume drop coming to a quick redlight. That's the first time I've ever heard it and that's also the first time I ever had a cassette playing. In the hidden BOSE settings I have the GALA feature set at its highest level. Otherwise I do not notice GALA in radio or CD mode.

Default no, does it on CD and tape also for me

Want to test it? Put in somewith with strong bass and turn it up quite a bit. Then accelerate quickly down an onramp on onto an expressway. You should notice the volume increase in the bass.
