Cell phone adapter available early 2002

Re: Cell phone adapter available early 2002
Good luck. I've been trying to track this down for 2 months. I've resigned myself to having to use "accessories" as opposed to from Audi itself.
Here are some places to try:
http://www.expansys.com/
http://www.cellularaccessory.com/
http://www.accessoryone.com/
http://www.cullmann.de/
I cannot understand how a company that can win Le Mans cannot put a phone in a car. Of course, maybe if you win Le Mans, you don't have to.

Maybe Audi just prefers us to drive...
...instead of talking on the phone or hooking up an iPod to that darn Bose stereo. I guess we'll have to gadgetify our cars ourselves without Audi's help. Thanks for those links.
PS: Nice to see you here. Does your "garage" include an A6 or S6?
See you at MacWorld, perhaps?
Happy new year!

Re: Maybe Audi just prefers us to drive...
I need a cell phone because the tech support line for ATT Broadband is always busy. :-)
I wish I did have an Audi in my current stable. Been trying to get an S6 Avant for a couple of months--but have been waiting to see how the Onstar and integrated cell phone issues play out.
I have given up on both and will just order one now and "hack" out a solution to my telephony needs.
Will be at Macworld. Probably Wednesday. Say hello if you see me!
HNY!

I think it would be pretty simple ....
to do basic integration, especially if you didn't care about using the controls on the wheel, or the display in the dash. There have been a people who have successfully done the basics in level 1 and 2. Level 3 is more problematic.
Level 1
Power
Mic
Speaker
Level 2
Auto Radio Mute on ring
Level 3
Steering Wheel controls
Caller ID display in dash
I think the hardest thing is getting the information out of the phone, not in figuring out the Audi wiring, or even rigging up a connector to the phone.
You wouldn't want to give a company a hard time about proprietary connectors, would you?? ;-)

I'll be there Wednesday...
... and meeting up with a group from the old Power Computing online community, Powerwatch.com, which i s still going strong. Of course, few of us use our PCC systems as primary computers anymore.
