For anyone thinking of a brake upgrade....
DO IT.
I just upgraded to the StopTech big brake kit, and the difference is astounding. The guys at Stratmosphere.com guided me through the entire process with great help and expertise. I highly recommend both them and the StopTech product. I really didn't realize how "bad" the oem brakes were until I made the change.

I wonder if there is a decrease in 60-0. There are less costly alternatives to increase the fade
resistance of the stock set up. Super Blue, Zimmerman cross drilled and Mintex Reds are available for about $800. The Stoptechs or Bira Porsche kits are definitely the most fade resistant solution. You're right that the brakes on this pig heat up way to quick.

Careful with Super blue...
I had a clutch master cylinder squeak, and eventually fail after switching to super blue (clutch system uses the brake fluid...). A number of others have had this issue as well. There doesn't seem to be a reason for it (it *should* be fine) - but enough people had the same problem that I switched to the Castrol hi-temp brake fluid...
Oh yes - I also agree strongly on the Stoptechs - especially if you do any track events...

or is it difference between stopping right behind car in front of you...
And stopping 5 feet short and getting rear ended?
I know that's silly, but the case where 107' would save you and 112' would is also QUITE rare.
Anyway, Audi's bizarro HP2 brakes are some of the best in class. We're all spoiled. The stoptechs sound even better though.
I wonder how quickly you could stop with stock brakes and fatter tires? At slow speeds, tires often make a bigger difference because even the stock brakes can lock the tires. I bet you'd find the Stoptechs make a disproportionally larger difference in stops from higher speeds than 70mph. That's where larger brakes help the most.

It doesn't seem to...
effect ABS, for it kicked in this morning (at what I thought was the appropriate time) as I slid down an icy hill.
The improvement is at all speeds, but most pronounced at faster ones.
On the down side, I had to upgrade my wheels from Ronal R28s to SSR Competitions, simply due to fit issues.
