2001 A6 Rear Fog Light Question
I noticed that only the left (drivers side) rear Fog light lights up. According to the manual that is normal. What is the dead on on the right supposed to do? When I turn on the rear fog lights it looks light one light is always out. Does tht right hand one do anything??
Thanks for any help on this

In Germany, only one rear fog is allowed. This is to.....
1. Differentiate between rear fog and the brake lights.
2. Help the overtaking driver locate the left rear of the car being passed.
To me - both of these things are completely logical (in the German tradition), and are designed to improve safety during fast driving in poor weather.

The right hand one has a plastic mold in where the fog light would go...
There is a mod that takes about 30 minutes to do which allows both lights to work and it looks better. I got tired of people telling me my light was burned out. Apparently the reason is the Europeon model has the right side lit and in NA (North America) it is the left side... Anyway go to the url for your mod... it works for A6 too.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext33.shtml</a
