Default Who is debating a transimission Fluid Change?

So, I have now nudged above 82k miles, and I am thinking I need to get the tranny flushed. IS anyone else in the same boat, I have a quote of 412$ ish, and I expect it might even nudge 450$. I do plan on keeping the car to 160k miles, so I expect I will need to get my fluids changed more regularly starting soon.

Coming from all manual cars,
94' 100 csq manual
02' A6 6spd manual Twin Turbo
05' A6 3.2 automatic
(Picking up the wife's base model 07' Q7 tomorrow)

What are your intervals for the transmission fluid change, and how critical are people when considering this maintenance on a 'lifetime fluid'.

TIA.
IB

The tranny was flushed and the differential fluid was changed at around 45k miles, but I am a little crazy when it comes to maintenance. BTW it made a huge difference in the shifting and the elimination of the Quattro rumble in slow turns.

This would also apply for the CVT in FWD C6s. Huge diff - I change it every 12 months, including the filter. The whine on cruise goes away substantially.

Same boat here, although I want to do the 75k service first.
