Thinking of trading my trusty '03 A6 4.2 for an '09 A6 3.0T. Every one with a Carfax says the headlights and front fascia were replaced; sometimes twice. What was the problem and did Audi's fix work? Thanks.

I noticed the same things popping up on Carfaxes for that year and wondered why myself. The other one that popped up a lot was the water pump but I believe the replacement unit fixed that issue.

I wonder if the front fascia had to be removed and then "replaced" in order to change out the headlights. Hence why the maintenance log shows the front fascia being involved but it wasn't actually replaced per say (just removed and re-installed). Not sure if that is true though.

The LED strips in the 09+ headlight had major issues, the LEDs would keep burning out. This is probably why so many say the had their headlights replaced.

Had both my headlights replaced under warranty. LED running lights would go out and the whole unit needed to be replaced.

No problems since.

MY09's had problems with water pump and headlights. Otherwise, solid cars.
