Default Check out Module Masters

They may be able to rebuild your failed unit. Plenty of B5/C5 members have used them.

I have checked with MM and they said that they can rebuild it. However, in order to get the ABS controller out I must drain the brake lines and remove the ABS pump/ecu which is too much of a hassel. I would have to do the removal/instal job twice if I want to keep the car running, once to ship ECU out and once when it comes back. At this point I was wondering if could just find a good used ABS pump/ecu to do the removal/instal job once.

Default Bummer that you can't just separate the units

The older controllers (B5/C5) could be separated fom the pump without impacting the fluid. You'd still be down a car for a few days, but at least you didn't have to mess with bleeding.

If I drain my brake line will the ABS pump drain as well? Will leaving the brake lines empty for a couple of days cause any harm?

Ok, so I ended up draining the brake lines with a vacuum pump and the ABS pump did drain as well. After removing the ABS pump to get to the ABS ECU I realized that there was no way in hell I was going to get the ECU without removing the pump. ECU and pump are out to Module Master today and hope for the best.
