Default Tire Pressure for 2011 A6?

Hello:

I have a 2005 A6 with 18" Wheels. I have been reading of complaints for uneven tire wear with the current pressure of 33 rear and 36 front.

Can anyone tell me what the inflation pressure recommendation is for the 2011 A6? I could not find it online anywhere. I understand it changed (bumped up to the 40's?), and it might be due to the wear. Also, the tire brand is ContiProContacts.

Thanks,
Rich

I pump my 18" tires up to 40 PSI on my 2011 A6. I believe the door jam say something like 38 up front and 42 in the rear.

Thanks GMan. You go 40 all the way around?

I try to keep my 2010 A6 3.0 QT P+ with 18" wheels at 40 front 42 rear (or vice versa, I forget). The problem is that I keep the car in a heated garage (close to 80 dgerees even in the dead of winter) then I have to go out and it is 27 degrees. It's hard to calibrate the indoor PSI with how much it drops when I go into the cold. I use the formula of a one PSI drop per 10 degrees of temperature. So, when I want the tire to be 40 in the cold I set it at 45 dgerees in the garage.

Thanks Bob. Even though my A6 is an '05 I think I will bump up the pressure to 42 front and 40 rear. I had been running spec of 36 front and 33 rear with the ContiProContact's.

Holy cow, 80 deg. in the garage, I would hate to pay your heating bill

It's a cooperative apartment building. The garage is in the basement and all the various hot water and heating pipes pass through it, so that is why it is so warm. On a really cold day it might get down to 70, but that's about it. No need to warm up the car on cold mornings.

Mine is a 2009 A6 Avant, I go 40psi all round. My pressures are on the door jam.

On my 2008 it was on the inside of the the fuel filler door.
Roy thanks. I was just wondering what is was for the 2011. I own a 2005 and mine is inside the gas filler door. There have been complaints about tire wear on ContiProContact's running with the 2005 rec. pressure or 33psi rear and 36psi front. I had heard that the rec. pressure changed on the 2011, but I don't own the 2011 .

That is sweet . I ran baseboard to my garage, but it does not go above 50 when it's cold out (NJ).

What would be the difference between the 2005 and the 2011 A6 to cause a change of 8 psi in the recommanded tire pressure?
