Welcome to S6 ownership. I've had my 2008 for 3 years, they are great cars. Have 87K on it with no significant problems. I'm going to push into the 150K territory with this engine, not sure of any long term issues other than the carbon build up. Got some winter wheels and Blizzacks and it eats snow, the only limiting factor is ground clearance. Buy a radar detector!

4. If the right one makes itself available, don't hesitate bc someone else will ****** it from you. (happened to me twice).
5. If there was 2 owners listed on carfax and the 2nd owner only had it for a year, don't buy it bc chances are they got rid of it bc they kept having problems.
Excellent advice on buying long distance. I learned the same when I bought an 2011 A6 avant in December. While mine was not from a audi dealer, it was a Maserati dealer that took in trade. They kept it because it was in great shape. Correct about Carfax. Not perfect, but you can surely read between the lines and learn some. I see Carfaxs with ZERO maintenance history listed, not even the first free 5k. BUT, with the VIN, you can also go to ANY audi dealer and they will pull the service records for you. I did both and found that the car had Audi Care that even the selling dealer did not know about.
Its sad to see some carfaxs show the poor car going through TWO auction houses in different parts of the county, and three owners. Like a troubled child......

Enjoy the car -- and stay out of trouble.

Yeah, my plan is to buy your year's OEM wheels and wrap them with some winter tires.

However at the same time, I don't really want to drive it in the winter all that much, so may just pick up something to beat on in the snow to preserve this work of art.

Anyways, here's some pics for those who want to see
