Rear bumper removal help.
#12
I went with cheap Chinese sensors from eBay; thought I give it a shot and see what happens and since they are 22mm I can always replace with cobra or Bosch if anything goes wrong. Another reason why I went with China is becayse they were already pained my color. Had them for 2 years and only now had to replace one sensors. Took me about 30 mins to replace but initial job took about 2 hours because I wanted to make sure i aligned the holes correctly. Bumper does have slight markings for sensors already on it. They only issues I had is finding 3rd screw inside of the trunk; it was hidden under the carpet trim. So far so good.

Bumper cover with sensors vs. w/o sensors
Hello,
Great DIY help here. I am hoping those of you with the experience doing this repair/upgrade might be able to lend some advice.
Unfortunately, I'm looking to replace rear bumper cover on my '08 S6 with the sensors. I'm trying to cut the cost, because it was my mother that did the damage. The cover cracked right on the corner, so I'm faced with getting a whole new cover.
Shopping around I can find the covers without the sensor holes for $100s less than one with the holes (@$750 vs @$350). I'm fine with doing the work to drill the holes since it looks like they come marked and I have to get it painted regardless.
So my question is: Given that I intend to reuse the existing factory sensors, should I have any reservations about getting a replacement cover without the holes versus the one with holes?
Thank you Kindly,
Dan

In checking the bumper cover from an on–line dealer, the prices are identical for the cover w/ or w/o the sensors holes ($789.01). Knowing that auto manufcaturers would use the exact same mold for a cover w/ or w/o the sensors, I would say you shouldn't have any problems because the hole positions should be clearly marked due to the mold used to form the part.
