Default Price for the updated start/stop button?

Local dealer quoted me $65 + tax but I thought these were closer to $40?? Nothing wrong with the buttons besides a little bit of the black paint/coating coming off.

Can't speak to the price, sorry..

Are the old/new designs interchngable though? How would one even get to that? Wouldn't you have to tear out most of the center console?

To R&R the advanced start–stop switch, the center console trim is removed. As far as the newer round button switch, it does fit the earlier C6s that use the rectangular button switch.

Yea, I paid around the same ($61.50, before tax) for mine, from the local dealer, when swapping from the older style (on my '07) to the style found in the '09s - buttons in metal finish, much better.

You can generally get replacement start/stop buttons for ~$40 from genuineaudiparts...but they didn't have any of the '09 style in stock when I contacted them.

No need to remove the trim to get the current button out, simply slip a credit card (or similar) in the narrow gap around the edges, pry the button up enough up enough to get a finger-hold and pull straight up. Then simply push the new one in.

There's an older thread on same somewhere here...

Pavils, where in Western WA are you? I'm in Kirkland so Barrier is closest and I think it takes them at least 3 days to get the part in.

I'm here on the Eastside, too - Sammamish.

Barrier is where I got mine. They actually had it in stock (!) when I called, else it would have been 2-3 days to get it.

University was quoting a higher price - and a wait - when I was calling around.

I recommend the new style; not only is it a drop-in replacement, I also expect it won't have the fade problem you describe (which I also experienced).

Me bad, forgot about the older thread posted by The G Man. Removing the center console trim, which I plan on replacing, is only one of the methods to R&R the switch. But not the easiest.

Nice to know about the fellow C6'ers in the area. I'm in the south end of Puget Sound, Lake Tapps area.

Eastside as well (Bellevue) Might have to swing by Barrier and pick one up.
