Has anyone noticed am underhood noise under the hood when the driver's door is opened, and engine is not running? I equated it to a pressure-up of the fuel system, but my dealer tells me our cars don't do this (I'm NOT crazy). I've always treated the quick noise as normal, but lately I'm getting a gear-grinding sound on top of the pressure-up sound that lasts 2-3 seconds.

This happens every morning, and any subsequent starts after the car sits longer than 20 minutes.

Curious if anyone has any ideas what either the "normal" or new strange sounds are? (again, I'm NOT crazy).

I would guess its the fuel pump activating.

I get a noise that sounds like a turbine spinning every now and then...

Those noises are perfectly fine, unless we are all not talkin about the same thing. Record a quick video clip and we can all take a look at it.

I had the car in for other issues- the intermittent power at constant speed. They did a de-carbon of the valves, and claimed they cleaned something else with the throttle to eliminate the noise.

Happy to say the surging issue went away, and the strange noise is gone as well; although the "regular" pre-start noise is back, which I'm perfectly happy with.
