Pop it off, peel the remaining old coating off, sand it a bit, clean it up with some alcohol, then hit it with some plasti-dip.

Yes. I used a utility knife blade and stuck it behind the left edge by the vent. Pop it off. Snap the new one in. Done. If you take your time, you can still probably do this faster than Usain Bolt can run the 100m.

Steps

1.) Remove trim ( use pick to lift hooks from inside of vent )
2.) Take trim to auto parts store .... Match trim color to spray paint selection
3.) Use fine sand paper to remove trim paint
4.) Apply three thin coats of paint ( drying between coats )
5.) Reinstall trim
6.) $340 SAVED!!!!!

I would pay the $21 and get a new trim piece. Much less hassle. Less time. Perfect match. Nothing wrong with repainting it, but I wouldn't bother personally.

Thanks for all the great suggestions; the only bad one was the dealer's choice. It is such a shame they behave the way they do, they could have charged $75 and would have gotten the job. Im excited about the c7 platform, but then the dealers make me think twice about updating my car.

Default Silver Chrome

I need to replace a broken piece of silver chrome that surrounds the vent..

Is this part number 4F1-820-073-B-1HA that Jake suggested a silver chrome part?

Thanks!
