I wouldn't call it rare...just not as common as the other colors, although I've seen quite a few drving around town.

I was too late to take part in the poll, but I am biased anyway. Oyster Grey all the way. When I had the dealer on the look out for my CPO A6, it was my first choice. I like the fact that it shifts colors but feel it leans towards a blueish tint more then purple. (You can see purple at the right angle, just not obscene.)

Check out my pics. I have owned this car for a few years and I have really grown to love it. It makes the car very unisex. The wife likes it because it can go a bit into the purple but it looks good and aggressive enough for me to be proud to drive it around.

I ended up purchasing the Oyster Gray A6. I have yet to notice the purple tint and I was very paranoid about it. Since I bought it sight unseen, I am very happy with the color. It is a nice looking color/vehicle.

Shades of gray seem to be the most common here in Europe. I get a lot of stares and double takes because mine's white. You just don't see white A6s here. Glad you like you color but it's probably the most or one of the most common colors. No doubt it looks good.

I have the same color on my 2005, you're right about the purple tint up close on a sunny day. I will post some pics in a few days.
