FUBAR 4.2

Hey guys,

When I put on my Parking Brake (life the button) I hear (what I can only explain as) rubbing rubber along a wet, painted garage floor...(like when you turn your steerting wheel while stopped) sort of a screeching sound - is this normal?

You should hear the electric motor running to engage the brake pads to the rotor. So, if you're not getting any DTC warnings about EPB, then your parking brake is probably just fine.

Hey, I have an Audi A6 and I'm hearing the same noise you described. So I wonder if you found out if it is normal. If the noise is not normal, you have discovered the reason for the noise, and got discovered how to fix?

Best solution is to stop using the parking brake.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will do that at the moment and will soon seek a mechanic to definitively resolve this.

Mine makes that noise everytime. I'm pretty sure its normal. Probably the electric motor.
