My '05 4.2 was totaled out today
After 3 years and about 80k of trouble free miles (120k) total I was rear ended pretty hard. Shockingly very little visible damage above bumper. Tail lights intact etc. but exhaust and spare tire well were crushed. They totaled it out. Need to settle on value but looking at about $13k plus sales tax value. Mine was loaded with nearly every option. Seems about right with year and miles.
Now what to get? I want either A5 or S5. Any solid leads on unadvertised cars out here?

glad your safe..thats whats most important..
how well do u think the a6 handle the collision
anything impress or disappoint u?
if it was me... i would try to bump them up 1k-2k on whatever # they came at me with...and throw at them whatever facts/figures u could
where is the car located... do u have access?
i would also try to get in the yard and pull out somethings from the car...but thats usually hard to do

I'm extremely impressed with the its ability to withstand the collision. Cosmetically it was hardly damaged. The underbody crumpled and was responsible for absorbing the impact but also is what totaled it out.
The Camry hit the minivan that hit me. I was stopped. The Camry was going about 45. Here are some pics. Get this, my car was vandalized after being hauled to the storage lot. Note the rock in the back window. I don't have a good pic of the exhaust that were smashed into the rear wheels and may have done damage towards the engine.
I don't have a tire on my spare rim as I needed to get a new tire.

Doors were in perfect shape. Notice you can no longer see the exhausts.
Tire was off because this rim was recently found to be cracked due to pothole. Was needing to get it replaced. Glad I didn't bother.
Nope, no airbag deployment.
