MMI won't turn off

MMI won't turn off
I was making a bluetooth call through my car when it froze on dialing. Now the MMI doesn't turn off even when I turn off, get out and lock the car. The phone section still shows the Dialing screen, but I can switch between functions such as radio and nav. I can mute the volume, but holding down the button will not turn off the MMI.
Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks!

I know this is an old thread but I have a 2008 A6 and this just happened to me. My MMI screen stayed on and some of the lights in the center console also would not turn off no matter what.
I reset the MMI according to the instructions in the video, and it didn't help. After resetting it, the MMI would turn off for 1 minute, and then come back again even with the car and everything turned off.
After resetting the MMI, I noticed that the date/time was reset to 12:00AM, 1/1/2000. When I tried to set the date & time, the option was greyed out, and when I pressed the CAR button, I got an error message that said "Gateway not available." Then I pressed the PHONE button to see if there were any issues there, and noticed my bluetooth connection would no longer work and there was no option to re-pair my phone.
Next, I unplugged my iPod and reset the MMI two more times to see if that would help. Still no luck. Then I reset it again, and on the 5th reset attempt the MMI screen and the lights finally turned off!
I turned everything on again just to see what would happen, and noticed that the date and time was back to normal (I didn't have to set the date/time again), the CAR button no longer generated that strange error message, and my phone/bluetooth was working again.
Everything seems to be working ok now, but I had to reset it several times. At least I think that's what helped it! Glad I found this post.
