Alright I ordered the XCARLINK, BB Audio Gateway and the power supply.

No doubt I will be back here asking questions!

I guess I was too impatient the two times I tried to bring the system up. I did notice that pairing the BB Gateway together with the Audi BT phone connection causes random interruption every once in a while. I paired the BB only and it is working perfectly. Thank you all for the pointers and help. One last thing I noticed is that the MMI takes two to three seconds to start now that it has to pass through the xcarlink, is this normal?
Congratulations. Neat install. Question...can you control the Ipod via the MMI and does the music infos (Title, artist, album) show up on the screen?

No - You can only control it from the device and no info shows up on the screen. This is the big difference between this and the AMI / Dension units. However, since this setup is wireless, I don't see that as a major concern - easy to control directly from the device.

My MMI is a bit slower to boot, that is normal.

Did you end up with the BB gateway in the glove box?

Enjoy!
I have a Droid X and experiencing this problem when I pair phone and BB Gateway. Will try my wife's Droid Incredible to see what happens if the problem persist then I will have to start questioning the outdated MMI software version.

Just wanted to double check if a slightly slower boot is normal, thank you.

Nah, I left the BB with the xcarlink because I like the least visible things as possible. I did think about it before placing it with the xcarlink that accessing is not going to be as easy. But I thought that for the once in a very great while times I expect myself to go reaching for it I figure that removing the black bottom panel to access it is not too much trouble for me.

Hooked it up knowing I need the MMI update first (I am still on one of if not THE earliest versions) and it worked for 30 seconds and the MMI crashed.

Took it back out until my update disks arrive.

You also need unswitched power for the xcarlink MMI adapter. I can look at where I tapped in to the power, but i am currently 2500 miles away from my car for the next few days.

Using this setup, it turns on with the car and syncs immediately with my phone.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Any advice on which switched and unswitched power to tap into.
