Default MMI Bluetooth Streaming Audio

I just ordered from one of my local dealer the MMI Bluetooth Streaming Audio adapter for my '05 3.2. I don't think my MMI has ever been updated, my SW is 10.7.0 0437. Given that the adpter comes with USB SW drive, will that SW drive update my MMI to the latest MMI version? The guy at the dealer was not sure. To any one that have this device installed, have you connetected a Droid X? Is there any break-up as it is the case with some Stereo Bluetooth adpters?

Does your car have an AMI unit? If not, then this won't do anything for you. It plugs into the AMI unit that is the interface to your MMI.

yes, you need the AMI in order to plug the USB into it for the SW update and then you plug the Bluetooth dongle into it.

Yes that most definitely will not work.

I installed the xcarlink aux in adapter for MMI
http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.ph...1&cat=4&page=1

and a blackberry music gateway. I stream pandora in my 2005 a6 over bluetooth and it's AWESOME! The entire thing cost me about $200 and about an hour or two to install.

Note that the blackberry music gateway will work with any a2dp device, I use it with my HTC droid Incredible.=

What is the difference between this product and the Gateway 500, beside the price?

Sorry for my Michael Scott moment but I am still confused, so I need an aftermarket part to make the OEM part work?

No, the Audi Music Interface is an OEM option on the cars and can be retrofitted if your car does not have one in the glovebox. You can then buy all kinds of adaptors like the one you mention that plug into it. (kind of like an auxiliary jack)
