Default Misfires

P0300, P0304, P0306. Could feel a very mild rough engine at idle (cold or hot). Cleared the codes yesterday and started the car up again cold. They immediately came back. Swapped coil packs between cyl 4 and 1 and cyl 3 and 6 and did a cold start this AM. No codes. A little puzzled. Have driven it sparingly - just local - over the last week but did notice a cloud of light gray smoke when I floored it from a start. Going to do some highway runs to work this week and see if anything comes back. Have run Audi and Techron cleaner in the tank over the last six months and exhaust was clean.

let us know how it turns out. Techron can certainly help with issues such as carbon buildup. But it won't 'fix' it. The only sure way fix is taking the manifold off and effectively dremelling out all the carbon in the valves, etc...

btw, what color was the smoke and do you notice any drop in ANY of you fluids (i.e. oil, coolant).?

Light gray smoke - no loss of fluid and only for a few seconds out both pipes. After some highway runs, no codes but I still notice the same slight roughness at idle. I can't imagine that simply swapping coil packs from one side to the other would have that affect. It's at the shop having a rocker panel ding taken care of for a couple of days. I'll re-check after it sits for a couple of days. I had problems during the winter in single digits or below, but the rough engine was so rough it put the CEL on. Original packs at 90K so maybe it's time.

Swapped coil packs, one bank to the other. No codes. Weird.
