losing faith with Audi

This is why
Because they went cheap with 2006 across the board and stopped the full bumper to bumper thing: batteries, wipers, brakes, bulbs. But the HID bulbs started failing with such an alarming rate, and customers got SO MAD because these bulbs are supposed to "outlast the car" that they aren't serviceable (you have to remove the friggin' bumper) that they had to include them again.
I just had both HIDs replaced on my 2005.5 S4. Initially the service guys were scratching their heads because it looks like a 2006+ car (by body style), but when they saw it's an 05.5 they did the full thing, at full price to Audi.
It's insane. Batteries and wipers are one thing, but HIDs that aren't supposed to break, be a man and fix them for free, I'd say.

I've got the 100k warranty on a certified 05 and I'm at my wits end even though I don't pay for repairs. I've been trying to get an MMI problem straightened out since 10/20. The problem has been "fixed" for about 10 days (after 75 days with no MMI at all). My bluetooth doesn't work like it used to. No address book. Calls drop. A few days ago I got a parking brake warning light. Tonight the brake locked on. I did a search and found that there is a TSB on this, but since I'm covered, I'm just taking it back for service.
I love the look and feel of the car, but the electrical issues are frustrating - not only me, but my dealer's service manager. I swear he longs for the "good old days" when fixing a car meant getting his hands greasy. He's more like an I.T. guy than a mechanic at this point.

jefman calm down, this is a forum. I think different dealers sometimes do things different, HID bulb
should not go out under one year of ownership so it should't be considered a wear and tear item. fight it with them or go to another dealer, they might help you out. I've had different luck with different dealers. I guess they could get technical and deny it, but I think a different dealer could work with you.
