Looking at S6...questions...
I have had my 2006 3.2 cvt since January of 06. Bought it new and put 75000 on it, the goal was to keep it until 100k miles, my local dealer has an 08 S6 for sale I saw when I dropped my car off for service. within the first 30 seconds of asking about it they took $10k off sticker which is 79,000. Anyone on here upgrade like I am looking to do? What I really would like to know is do you guys think I can get more off?
Any comments appreciated

Don't buy new
There are used S6's going unsold for low 50's with less than 10k on the clock. The dealer may not be willing to go as low as you can find used. Unless you are comfortable with $20k in depreciation as soon as you drive off the lot, I'd probably look used. I bet wholesale prices are in the 40's. Now is not the time to buy new ... but an excellent time to buy used.

^ I agree
I'd rather buy almost new and save 15-25K then buy new and pay for the depreciation.
There's one at Carmax in the high 40's with low mileage to give you an idea of how badly they're [S6's] doing.

Best time in decades to buy used luxury cars. A favorite article:

Do you really want to put 25k miles per year on a $69000 car?
the depreciation would be mind boggling. I'm guessing the trade in number on your 06 would be pretty scary too. Whatever they take off the S6, they will take off the A6 in trade, esp given the mileage.

Two schools of thought on that...
If you drive that much do you really want to put the miles on such an expensive car?
v.
If you drive that much, don't you want to at least spend the time in a decent car?

Re: Don't buy new
I've seen several 2007 S6's advertised in the low to mid $40's. They were all CPO's and the cheapest one (around $42k) had about 40k miles on it and appeared to be in excellent shape.
Nonetheless, I wanted lower miles so I went with a mint 08 A6 4.2 with 8000 miles on it for considerably less than the price they advertised on autotrader.
