So I have been driving my car since yesterday and i've been noticing a knocking noise from the left front wheel when ever I go over small bumps on the road. So I went to my tire shop took the wheel off and saw a piece of loose/ripped rubber. This is the only thing I could see that was not right. It was pretty beat up when I saw it, I tried to push it back in place as much as I could cause it was almost all the way out.

1. Could this be making the knocking noise?
2. If it is, it looks like an easy fix can I do it myself?
3. What is the name of the part?

The part is called a sway bar link and is moderately easy to replace.

thanks for the response, I kept saying sway bar end link but I figured it must be called something else since it's not technically an end link.


could that be the cause of the knocking? or is it just simply torn. Also when putting the piece in do I need to lube it up?

it may and it may not, the suspension itself, each side is made of at least 18 components , looking at the diagram, any other bushing (control arm ones) etc can make such noise....

Thanks for the link, now I got a better understanding of the whole setup down there. Def gonna tackle this tomorrow. Just hoping it's the inner brushing because the noise is scary and literally a loud "CLUNK"

hmm, i'm trying to order the part but the diagram on GenuineA-VW is incomplete. Can anyone help and tell me what exact bushing it is from the diagram.

there are, bushings, lower bushing, upper bushing?
