Anyone who has changed trans fluid and used Mercon SP, could you let us know how many miles since fluid change and any issues after.

I have not used Mercon SP, but I have used Amsoil (fuel efficient synthetic) in two A6's with no problems.

Raizin, you can get the correct fluid from Blauparts without having to spend too much. It's made by Ravenol and carries the VAG certification.

lifeguard 6 is the fluid correct, what is the oe part number. Is it

40,000 miles on Mercon SP in my 05 4.2 with no problems. No change in performance.

First 500 miles or so after the fresh fluid change had more positive and crisper shifts, then went back to normal after that. I did two changes with Mercon 5000 miles apart as I did not do a filter change the first time. I have 185,000 miles on the clock now. First change at 145,000, second change with filter at 150,000.

The redline D6 fluid should also be compatible with the lifegaurd 6 fluid if your looking for another alternative.
