SERIOUS MMI Issues '06 A6 Avant
So last week my MMI starting cutting out and rebooting, and now won't boot up at all. I did a bunch of research and found out about the washer hose issue. Checked mine and of course it was leaking onto the bose amp. I cracked the amp open and it had some funky deposits and clearly had washer fluid on it. So I picked up a used Bose amp from an Audi recycler for $550. Put that in and same issue, now it won't even flash the MMI screen on startup, just stays totally black. I checked every fuse and all are fine. I had someone run the Optical diagnostic and it came back like this:
CONTROLLER Electrical Optical
19-CAN Gateway ERROR ERROR
07-Control Head ERROR ERROR
0E-Media Player ERROR ERROR
77-Telephone ERROR ERROR
47-Soundsystem ERROR ERROR
67-Voice Control ERROR ERROR
37-Navigation ERROR ERROR
0F-Digital Radio(SAT) ERROR ERROR
Does this point to the MMI control unit behind the glove compartment? Is it possible that I tried to restart it too many times and the MMI control unit is some sort of shut down mode but can be woken up? I purchased the loopback connector to try to isolate the offending component, but I don't think that will help me if the main control unit is down.
Anyone have any advice?

when I searched it came back with a number of possibilities, everything from possible MMI failure to possibly 'resetting' the car via disconnecting the battery...take a look:

Sorry but I've not had anything like you've described happen to me...so don't have 1st hand experience.

I am going to try and expose the bluetooth module and use the optical loop connector to isolate it, then unplug the battery for 10 mins and try to reboot. Then will try to do the same with the bose amp. If none of that works I *guess* I'll have to bend over and bring it to the dealer.

Yes, i would check the 07-Control Head. Make sure fuse for O7 is OK (fuse panel is in right side of dash). Can you go into 19-CAN Gateway and look at communication between 19 and 07?
