Default interior cleaning

Need advise on cleaning of my '08 A6 interior. I have a few small scratches on the wood in the center console, and some light discoloration on the black plastic trip where passenger rest their elbows - any advise on best cleaning products? I have used windex and a soft towel as well as warm water with dish soap, but it does not seem to do the job on the plastic.

Default Try using Griott's Interior Cleaner and/or 303 Aerospace...

Also, search the Detailing forum for a lot more information on the best cleaning products. As far as the scratches on your wood trim, it you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, then there is nothing you can do except replace the damaged part with a new one. If the scratches are only on the suface and can't be felt, try using Plexus Cleaner and Polish - it really works well.

I have always been happy with the Zaino line of products. They are only available on the internet.

Thanks for the advise; since the scratches can't be felt I will try the product you mention; any suggestions for the navigation screen? Same issue, tried a damp computer screen cloth and it leaves a grey film. Thanks

Default After trying it all...

What you are referring to really isn't cleaning (removing a debris or substance) as much as it is applying a protective coating. The reason i say this, is that cleaning can help restore plastics but usually they can't. So 303 interior cleaner applies a light cleaning solution, and then drys to a nice dark matte finish as a protective coating. It looks great, and you really can't go wrong.

Good luck, and just try the 303 first, then don't try anything else as you will just end up back at 303. Boat stores sometimes have this product if your local auto-parts store does not (which they almost never do)

Use a very small amount, a little does the entire interior. For the nav screen, just don't worry about the corners unless you have q-tips, and go extremely slow, the anti-glare coating scratches very easily.

Default For the MMI screen, try using a LCD screen cleaner and a microfiber towel...

I bought Monster ScreenClean, which comes with a microfiber towel, at Radio Shack. Works well.

We bought our A6 CPO 3 years ago. The wood on the console was scratched. Dealer fixed it to where it is hardly noticable. I am sorry I dont know what he did, but I would try a good detailer. This can be corrected. Ray

There is a TSB from Audi with instructions on how to clean the interior. Take a look at KevinGary's TSB's - if you can't find them, let me know and I'll upload them.

I use Chemical Guys leather cleaner and leather conditioner. (chemicalguys.com)

Damp cloth for the plastic trim or sometimes Klasse leather & vinyl cleaner
