Speaking purely from memory, I think you need either the tech package or the adaptive cruise control. If you want to see what the color display looks like, here's a picture.

Right, thanks for the pic...
Yeah, I saw that Adaptive cruise also has the color DIS, but Adaptive cruise has no appeal to me.
Although I'm a gadget oriented guy the $3,800 Tech package is starting to lose its appeal if I can get NAV for $1800, which is the main component from the Tech package that I want. It becomes hard to justify $2000 for Voice recognition that I likely wouldn't use, Advanced Key that seems to have many problems, Parktronic when I don't parallel park, and satellite radio...but I do like the color DIS.

It would appear to come with stand-alone dvd navigation.
Audiusa's website shows the color DIS in parentheses next to either the NAV or the adaptive-cruise-control, even though each is listed as part of a package. Since NAV is available separately, I would think the color display would be included. (I would, however, check before ordering.)

I really like the tech package especially with the advanced key feature. Also, I never used to think that I'd pay for radio but satellite radio has become essential for me since I got my car. When you're paying for a car at this price range, the $2000 difference is totally worth it.

To each his own...
I also like the idea of Advanced Key, but it seems like almost every day someone posts that theirs broke. Even though at the $50k price range an extra 4% ($2000) on things that are of little interest to me is still wasted money.

my old 2006 order guide says yes
I looked back at one of my old 2006 order forms. Seems like the color information comes with NAV if you order it as a standalone option. You'll still want to triple check with your dealer.

Thanks. Why is it an old order guide? Did it change already for MY 2006 orders?

Re: Not sure, but here's a pic of it if you're trying to decide
I just picked my 2006 up yesterday and I have the Nav without the tech package. My display is color as in drive4fun's pic.
Speaking of the Tech Pack, its difficult to find cars here in the NE with that option. It seems they move very fast.
Thanks for the help from everyone here. I've been lurking here for a month and a half picking up valuable information.
Had a great experience at Audi of Nashua, worked with Tom Walton.

I used "old" because the guide was from around the summer before the first 2006 models even arrived. Potentially it may have changed since then, but most likely not.
