minor upgrade
Maybe I been smoking too much weed, or maybe I've been reading too many timing chain threads on this site, but paranoia is getting the best of me. My 2005 4.2 has 120,000 miles and the timing correction is beyond the normal service range, something like 9* and 6*. I've been looking at different 2009 3.0T cars with 70-80 k miles and it's like $10k plus my car. The thing is, I love the way my car drives now, but is it just a ticking time bomb? Would hate to trade for a car that was not maintained well that is going to have it's share of unforeseen problems.

Now if you are that unbalanced related to the chain, then I would take a risk. $10K, in relative terms of a car is not heck of a lot and get's you a really great car and engine. The 3.0 is pretty solid and can be tuned to your hearts desire so make a your choice.
BTW, I can't think of a single sensible decision anyone has ever done while drunk or high...so put the pipe down before you actually make any real decision.

The only problem i've heard from the 09 3.0t's is that the water pump has plastic parts on it that go bad.... But i do think Audi replaced all of those for free.

3.0t is a beautiful engine whn i totaled my 06 c6 i was looking for one in the 40-50k miles range didnt want to geg the 09 because it was the first year of production had a deal goi g on a 2011 all black prestige pkg cpo with audi care plus for 31500k then i give a thought and turned down the deal and bought a 08 c6 3.2 didnt feel like spending 32k on another c6 with 50k miles on it im gonna keep the 08 for maybe 2 more years then get a cpo 2013 a7 for the same 30k just cant do the c6 again feel like its time for a change

8k for your audi means another 16k for a reliable 09 i was you i'd stay on top of everything for a year or so then spend a little more on a 2012 c7 in a year from now a 2012 c7 would be around 32
