Have you ever heard this sound just after shutting down car?
sometimes (though not every time) after I turn the car off and get out, I'll hear a very peculiar noise coming from what seems like the rear wheels/tranny area.
The best I can describe it is a "servo motor" sound... a distinct mechanical whine like you would hear when the flaps on a jet are being retracted during take off of a flight.
I mean... I know I drive fast some times but really....
This happens in particular after longer drives.. like my 90 mile commute (each way) vs. around the town driving.
Anyone?
Bueller?

its not the electronic parking brake is it?
that kind of sounds like the flaps on a wing of a plane...
could also be a really noisy / bad navigation dvd player but I really doubt that (and you'd notice it)

sounds like the e-brake piston motors. normal. most likely testing for pad wear.
"Brake pad play is automatically adjusted every 1000 km if the EPB is not operated in this distance."

Just like Pierre said, probably the electro-mechanical parking brake making an adjustment. If you set the parking brake by pulling up on the switch when in Park,, do you here a similar sound?

2nd.. or 3rd... i have this same noise every-once-in-a-while... it;s the e-brake adjusting. you can check by engaging the e-brake with your door open... the sound should be the same
