My car is in service today and the dealer says the bulletin...
is not necessary. I've had the surround sound issue and brought the bulletin # to them as well. I just got a call about it. WTF is this such a big deal?- just f-ing do it!

My problem is that they don't seem to want to perform the bulletin
which of course is something that others have experienced with some dealers. They are going to get back to me tomorrow. I don't know if I should be an *** about it or what. Since I have an 06 my main motive is to get rid of the lawyer screen. I have access to your post with the complete bulletin; I'll print it up if necessary. Thanks for your concern. GO PATS!

Palisades Audi in West Nyack, NY did my MMI software update . .
without any difficulty at all. I advised that my surround sound settings wouldn't hold. I was immediately told there was a software fix for that, and that they would be more than happy to perform the update. I was told that they need to have an area rep present when doing the update (yes, the actual TSB says as much), but all told, I did have my car back the next day. I don't understand why any dealer would be reluctant to do this update, so long as you mention "SURROUND SOUND PROBLEMS". Don't just walk in though and say "I want the update that gets rid of the lawyers screen". Getting rid of the lawyer's screen (and it's not truly gone- it's just been moved), is not, IMHO, a 'problem' for a service stop.
One caveat- I was advised that some of the MMI functions might be different, and I might loose some things in memory. I didn't loose anything in memory, but there are some functional differences in the 'new' MMI system. Unfortunately, Audi has not published any reference material as yet on the updated version of the MMI system. AoA, when I called to ask about this, didn't even know what I was talking about. It was Palisades' service department that later advised there is no documentation for the new MMI software
Bottom line- double thumbs up for Palisades Audi!

going with "my surround settings don't stick, here's a TSB that solves the problem" isn't workin
Pierreb,
I see you are in NH what dealer do you use? I have my 15K service coming up and would like to get the TSB done as well. I use Audi of Nashua.
Thanks,
Grey Ghost
