Common Problems on 2006 A6 3.2
I am looking at a few 2006 A6 models locally and was wondering if anyone could fill me in on any common problems found on this model. I've been driving a 2002 A4 and have loved it, however, I do know that the 2002 A4 model has chronic problems like burning oil and window regulators breaking. I don't think little things like that would turn me away from the A6, but would like to know them up front.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

Check the TSB sticky at the top of the page for known problems with our cars. I have a 07 3.2 Sline with 50k on the clock, and besides regular service, it's only been in for a bad coil pack and a faulty fuel gauge relay.

I have both an 02 A4 and an 04 A6. The A4 is modified and produces a aprx. 315 HP. I have 165,000 miles on it and never had an oil burning issue or a bad window regulator that your speaking of.
With that said, the A6 is has been a great car, (3.2). It doesn't have the punch of my A4 but it is a quality car that is safe and comfortable. I have car loaded with sport suspension and almost all options checked.

Ed, I bought my '06 in April with about 40k miles. Only problem was antenna amp was bad, it's covered under warranty, but since I mostly listen to XM I haven't taken it back in to have it fixed. Otherwise, I love the car.
(it replaced by '03, totaled in an accident....)

A6 is a good car, you def will love it. I got an 02 A4 and 05 A6. The A4 is much more sporty, the A6, on the other hand, is all about luxury and comfort. A6 will help you catching up to the traffic much better however, watch out for long drive, the A6 can make you feel really sleepy. I have to travel a lot from CT to NJ and it's a good 3 hrs drive. There are times I had to do 2-3 trips/week. It was all fine with the A4 but when I got the A6, the first few drives were bad. It got so sleepy to the point that I had to stop and get coffee.

Why not start your own thread vs resurrecting one which is 8 years old?
Have you checked simple things:
Good battery?
Vcds codes
Did the key work in the past, if so what happened differently?
Start with the basics and provide as much details as you can.
imagine if you were to phone your Dr and tell them you're having trouble breathing. It could mean anything from chest congestion to a heart attack to a bullet in your chest... Without details we can't help much.
