Thanks. Is the install straight forward once you get the part. I glanced at the broken latch and the replacement didnt seem obvious.

Easy install, just carefully pop off the underside (top plate) of the armrest assembly that flips up - if you get the parts kit you'll see what's holding it on.
insert the latch and reinstall the top plate.

Replaced mine too under warranty.

Car is '05 A6 and broke last year just before the new car warranty expired.

Dealer never made a big deal out of it though said that trim pieces were only supposed to be covered till 12mo/12k miles.

I remember my old '04 A4 had the same problem of the latch breaking but never got it repaired till I traded it in.

I agree that it's poor designing of Audi since I broke in on two different cars. Now I make sure that I close the lid very~very gently but it sometimes just drop closes by itself.

To revive an old thread, I entered the part # and got 4 results back. 2 from the collision catalog, 2 from the OEM catalog. Are all 4 of these the same thing?

what exactly do u guys mean when u say latch ... is it the hinge part ..the back part where the lid pivots. Or is it the front release lever ..the part you have to squeeze up to get the lid to be able to lift up?

i have a front release lever thats broken.. is that the part # that was given

I ordered a replacement from Audi Parts Nationwide www.audpartsnationwide.com (located in CA). Cost was $89 then shipping and handling. They are very quick and have always packaged their items very well.

you should try http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/ I had the exact problem in the image and replaced it myself too. Trust me I am not good with cars either, anyways I remember being a tad cheaper. Its too late now but i would book mark this site for reference and they have a nice diagram of how are cars are built. I also use it to see if the dealer is ripping me off. haha

Default Replacing the console cover.

06 Audi A4 Cabriolet--how do I replace the center console cover? Short of taking it to the dealer, yet again, and paying an arm and a leg.

Thanks!
