BMC "High performance" Air Filter
Does anyone have any experience with this 3rd party "High performance" air filter?

They were pretty popular with the Porsche guys about a decade ago. Seem to remember that we were doing BMC over K&N for "reputed" greater cfm flow without the over oiling issues on the MAF hotwire. Things change a lot in ten + years, but I've used them in 996 Carreras (turbo and NA) and a Boxster S without any issues.

Damn, $110+ for the filter... $60 or so, I would think about it.
Really bummed there are not many mods for the 3.2 other than BMW type mods (tint, clear corners, drop, sways and spacers ).

Just look at the size of the OEM compared to the puny BMC filter.
Audi have spent many hours developing their engines etc.
It looks as if BMC did it in the lunch hour on a cig packet.
OEM is drawing in cooler air from the outside (denser) where the BMC is drawing in from the engine compartment (hot air, less dense).
Stick with OEM and save your cash.

You won't do better than the OEM filter.

Does a new OEM filter come pre oiled?

The only disappointment, Carbon Buildup.
There's a lot of information on the issue.
Either save up for a manual cleaning, attempt the cleaning yourself, or try the BG Fuel/Air Induction service.
Also, check out Unitronic.
Small gains, but it may help to smooth out the transmission and increase throttle response. I'm debating on paying $150 to the Dealership for the TSB software update, or $550 for the Unitronic software.

It is unfortunate. Like royclark said, the Audi engineers spent a lot of time and money developing their cars (engine, air filter, etc.) to create the most efficient power/fuel ratio.

Not sure if my paper work states which update I have or not.

That's good to hear about the improvements after the update. Been looking for this kind of feedback. I'll probably go with the dealership update over unitronic.
