A6 TDI.. .Any plans for the US?
While in Italy over the summer my wife and I rented an A6 3.0L TDI Quattro Avant. The car was great on fuel, quiet and had tons of torque, 369 lb-fts.. I recently started driving long distances and the diesel would be a perfect fit but Audi does not bring them here... Why? I need AWD, would like something that gets decent gas mileage so the TDI would be perfect.. Seems like my only option with the A6 is the 3.2L which is fine but it gets 18/26 while the TDI gets 24/46MPG...

AOA is the blame for the US not getting the wonderful A6 3.0 TDI, they refuse to answer dealers inquiries as to why it can't be ordered since anyone who has driven or read about the prowess of the A6 3.0TDI wants one.
It almost seems like someone high up at AOA is secretly working for MB and giving them the market.

No, the only vehicles you can purchase with the Euro Deliervy program are those that are certified by DOT. This certification requires A of A to submit each vechicle design to DOT in order to sell the vehicle in the US.

It costs the mfr $1million+ to certify a powertrain. They have to be able to recover that cost over unit sales
