A6 manual transmission in US
#2
I don't believe any manual tranny's were offered in the States for the C6 model. However, I have heard folks who have installed 6 speeds in them.
FWIW, the six-speed manual gearbox was available with the 3.2-litre V6 engine, but not for the North American market.

Before you start this work. You need to identify what engine you have so the tranny will work for the torque. As for pricing, you need to factor in shipping. Since that will be a major cost. You can find used trans on gumtree or the respective eBay country site. You could look at mating a c5 4.2 six speed manual. Search the web.

You will also need to recode the ECU so that it does not keep lighting error lights because the TCU will not respond.
If you are in the US you also need to do some homework to make sure that your car will still pass the state emissions tests. This much of a change to the computer setup may cause it to fail because the configuration will not be a US approved configuration.
But lets us know if it works. I am sure many others here would love to do this swap.

A of A hasn't inported any A6s with a manual tranny since about 2000 in a C5 platform. And no C6 A6 was ever imported w/ a manual, even though A6s are available with manual trannies in Europe. Since A of A didn't import and certify A6s w/ a manual under the US DOT regulations, you won't be able to have a manual tranny in the US.
