3.2 Turbocharging
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but will give it a shot.
I have a 2006 A6 prestige with the 3.2 and 55k miles. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned and plan on keeping it a while. My girlfriend recently purchased an '09 A4 2.0T and I love the turbo. It got me to thinking, would it be possible to turbocharge my A6 3.2?
So my questions are:
1) is it mechanically possible to do?
2) what kind of costs would I incur in doing the conversion?
3) recommendations for what brand/type of turbo to get
Thanking everyone in advance for any info or ideas they can provide!

Thanks for the info! Just my luck they are in northern California and I am in Washington. The logistics really raises the cost, but I will see what kind of info they can give me.

You will waste a lot of money and ruin your car on the long run. Much better approach is to sell 3.2 and buy 3.0T. The 3.0 motor is designed to work with compressor. It has smaller displacement then 3.2 to deal with higher compression. Its computer knows how to supply more fuel. Its AT knows about different torque curve and where to expect more power. etc. etc.
even better idea, leave the turbo dream alone and spend extra cash to entertain your g/f. 3.2 car is great, does not have turbo lag and the engine is more reliable then forced aspirated motors.

I saw turbos outfitted on cheap cars with simple engines. But attempting to bolt on turbo on highend FSI engine in $40K car sounds crazy.

I once considered doing the same thing, after researching and talking with a couple of tuner shops the best options it to go 3.0T. These cars sometimes are too smart for their own good, so I am saving my pennies for a 11 3.0T soon.

I would thihnk with the crazy compression these cars have it would not be possible. I mean a supercharger might be possible with a low low PSI. But who knows. I am sure it would cost a pretty penny do the R&D that would have to go into it.
I think maybe a transplant would be cheaper.
