Default 2005 - 2007 2.7 or 3.0 Audi A8 Avant

Hey, I've currently got a D3 Audi and before that I had a C6 2.4 A6. Unfortunately A6 got totaled on highway (was driving but not my fault) and with almost head on collision it held together better than I could have imagined. Now I'm looking for something for my wife. Since we're unexpectedly going to have a baby Avant model comes to mind. My current car has a subwoofer in the trunk and even without it I don't think it could fit all the baby carriages and stuff very well. Since the car will be hopefully replaced in few years, 2005-2007 models are at the price range and since we're also looking for something more economical than a 5.2 liter V10, 2.7 or 3.0 AWD Diesel comes to mind. So how is their reliability? Mileage seems to be pretty big on those year models too. What are the most common faults that occur? I had one of the first cars that came out in 2004 and had no issues at all for 4 years until it got totaled, but I've been hearing people tell a very different story.
Thanks for any info.

Mine is a 2009 2.7 TDI Avant.
Never had any problems with it (so far), although its only covered 32,300 miles.
I change the oil every 3,000, changed the ATF at 32,000, changed the brake fluid 32,000 and had the air con serviced at 32,000. Around 40mpg.
