I am now at 167kms and I have done a massive overhaul. I had a problem with chattering noises when start up and ended up dropping the engine and transmission(broken guides and bank 1 cam adjuster). Replaced all 4 timing chains, both cam adjusters, all tentioners, oil check valves, intake manifold, air pump valve, all coils and plugs, cabin air filter, front and rear shocks, all upper and lower control arms and links.Eibach lowering springs (1"-1.2")Transmission flush,Injector flush, replaced windshield wiper transmission, bluetooth module, driver side front wheel bearing.4 Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/40/18(putting the rims and tires on this week) I have only owned this 2005 A6 4.2 for just over a year. This is my second one(2001 A6 2.7T). Unfortunately I have had to do all this major service but drives like brand new car!! Also I cut off the rear mufflers it sounds amazing! For more pics of this repair on my A6 you can go to the Engine Discussion 4.2 V8. Any one who is in Southern Ontario looking for a place to go I can help.http://www.everythingautomotive.ca/

Looks like your ready for the next 100K only and I have no doubt it'll easily get there without major issue.
Not sure why Kevin have to replace TWO steering columns in his..very odd?
One comment..the exhaust should remain stock according to Audi for back flow purposes but I'm also certain there are systems that replicated this and you still get the V8 throaty rumble when accelerating and still be whisper quiet when cruising. Rebuilding that car was an investment in one of the worlds great cars IMO.
Enjoy! We audi nutz look forward to your postings. I've decided to not consider a 2012 A6 since other then a few nice sw changes, LEDs and the supercharger this one has the very rare Adaptive Air Suspension and no longer a A6 option I'm told so keeping this one but...
will be tempted when the first A6 3.0 TDI gets here..that'll be my last car EVER!
2012 Euro A6 TDI read:
