100,000 mile club
I recently passed the 100,000 mile mark and was wondering what "maintenance repairs" other members of the club were running into with a higher mileage car. I think my high mileage has led me to replace the dampers, replacement of the steering column twice and replacement of the control arm bushings. Has anyone else found it necessary to repair any items because of high mileage? Maybe motor mounts or wheel bearings? Other suspension parts?

My 2005 Audi A6 3.2quattro
Mine has 102K miles. Just finished doing complete maintenance such as brakes, spark plugs, fuel and air filters, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Only thing that appears is the Parking Brake control module. Shows an error on the dash with P. It appears the parking brakes still work OK, scared to use them, in case the module stops working all together.
Have still to remove the old transmission fluid. Waiting on gasket and drain/fill plug seals. Have the oil and filter. expensive stuff, more than my bimmer & MB,

Regarding high miles on 2005 Audi A6
My car has the GPS roof antenna problem and adaptive headlight failure as my x-wife barely bumped into another car, no damage to our car, cannot even tell but the adaptive light on the left side failed. I bought a new headlight (bi-xenon) and now I wish I had bought two of them, so they both look new. Right side headlight has turned yellow and dont think it will be as good as the new one.

mine too.
mine started out affecting satellite radio and now seems like GPS too.
i discovered my 2 rear screw holders gave out and there was water damage inside
u may discover your screws holders have given in the front because the GPS is locate more forward... u can do a non scientific real simple test on the exterior... there should be no movement on the sharkfin... if u try to move it is there any give?...
i believe theres a TSB about it
using just my antenna as a guide ..my guess is the shark fin outer plastic shell has a weak design at the 8 screw points and eventually gives and water seeps through to the components
thats why the TSB says not to reuse the shell but to get a new one an repaint to match veh color
im going to try the used antenna route first... and maybe try to retrofit to the newer smaller designs.. i dont want to be fixing it with a bad design

Diagnostic help from Ross Tech
BTW, they are very helpful. Here is what they said:
For the headlight issue, the V319, Dynamic Corning Light Motor is part
of the headlight unit and can not be replaced as a separate item. The
code that you have:
02626 - Dynamic Cornering Light Motor; Right (V319)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - MIL ON
This can be caused something as simple as a blown fuse or loose wiring
connector. Check fuse SC9 (5A) and verify it is good. There seems to
be a 14 pin connector inside the headlight unit as well, with 4 wires
going to the V319 motor, I'd suggest you inspect that to make sure
nothing has popped loose.
There is always the chance that the V319 has failed and the whole
headlight unit will need to be replaced.
As for the GPS, if you scan the Navigation module, address 37, and to
into Measuring Block group 005 to view if the GPS antenna is working.
I'd suggest to under open sky when you do this.
Thank you.

but with my issue for the antenna i think its out of their hands. and even the program's hands ...the measuring block test can only go so far.
i did the test
and the test was just a mirror of the actual reception
i faced the car north and i received a signal and the measuring blocks read 4 (full reception) faced the car south ( in the same exact area but just south) and lost reception and measuring blocks read zero... i never got any reading in btw.. just 4 or 0
i didnt need it to tell me i didnt have signal... i could hear that the audio stopped.
at most it helped me validate the blame it a bit further to the antenna
i can see this test being most helpful when someone is doing a full install and doesnt get audio and doesnt know if he didnt hook up a audio wire properly or antenna wire properly.. he would run the test and if he got 4 measuring blocks he could skip to audi wires and have some confidence its not the antenna
