Default Dream on

AoA will send you a form letter saying that dealerships are independent franchisees and Audi has no say over their service practices.

Which is true, just unacceptable. Car dealers have too much clout and run the show in the US.

Default Sketchy and perhaps breach of contract - they extended an offer, you took them up on it, then

they changed the terms of the offer.

I'd contact the General Manager of the dealership and explain the situation, and then put it in writing. You may also consider contacting your local TV station "buyer beware" type advocate... that can work wonders.

Good luck Mike.

Not a dealer (see below). Can still complain to AoA though.

Default Re: Long interval oil changes benefit the automaker

Agreed. I grew up driving muscle cars and it was unthinkable that you'd go more than 3K w/o an oil change. Maybe that can be 5K w/synthetic, but 10K's just too long between changes. At the very least you should change the filter, even if you don't change the oil itself. The service guy at my dealer is even unconvinced that the 10K is a good idea.

BTW, they get $55 for a synthetic oil change in my '03 4.2. So, I think you were overcharged pretty much any way you slice it.

Default Being stubborn, I would have asked for the GM, and there is no way I would have paid a dime over $35

I'd have gone as far as calling the Police if they refused to release my car. Dealer would not be thrilled to have a black and white in the lot, even if the officer would likely say it's a civil issue, which it is.

Default Didn't the work order ref the coupon and estimated cost of $35? Call the GM for an immediate...

resolution, hopefully a complete refund.

Default I would not have paid it.

My state requires an estimate for any work, such final bill cannot exceed $25 more than the original estimate. I would have laid down $35.00 + tax on the counter and taken my car.
