Default Winter Tires

I currently am running on Yokohama avids (all season). Do I need to purchase winter tires or will these suffice? any input will help thanks. If so, what winter tires are recommended for a 2002 A6 4.2?

Default Depends on where you live, if it snows, how much you drive.

To me, snows tires are like Quattro: once you drive a car in the snow with good snows, you view them as a necessity.

I'd buy snows. Quattro makes you go, snows let you stop and turn.

Default snows definitely help. i'm running Conti TS790's on my 535xi

and they werk great. i have all season Conti RFTs on my 335xi and they suck. it goes ok, but not near as well as the winters. i notice a big difference in braking.

Default Do you wear the same shoes in July and in February????

We run PZero Rosso's in summer and Conti TS810's in winter. Probably going back to Nokian after the Conti's wear out. "All-Season tire" to me is like "lifetime transmission fluid."

I do. They're called "tennis shoes." I use the same tires as well.

Default I had Avid T4s on a fwd minivan and they worked great in the slop...

but they were 205mm wide and the van weighed 4500+ lbs - you probably have Avid V4s 255mm wide on a 3800lb car - physics aren't on your side
