who cuts plastic door keys
I want to get a plastic door only key to hide outside. Metal ones eventually rust. Audi wants $83 for the finished key not including the immobilizer chip being programmed. I see plastic blanks on fleabay for under $10. Where can I get one of these cut? Denver area.
Or, should I just spend the $83 for Audi version?

I just want to open the door. I am aware it will not operate to run the auto.
No, I did not locate anyone in Denver that would cut the key, other than the dealer, who orders it already cut by Audi.
I did nothing. I keep a spare key with chip inside the vehicle. I just wanted a way to open the door or trunk.
No locksmith I called would/could do it for less than the $83 Audi quoted.

i have never in over 30 years had a rusted key not open a door or start a car .. most are brass with a nickle coat anyway. not sure if rust could affect the inside cut keys though.

Alot of locksmiths will have the ability to cut a key like ours. Theres place here in town that has VW Audi key blanks in stock, even little cheesy ones with no chip just basic plastic/metal key. I cant say i would worry about corrosion, but if so, just wipe some WD40 on it before you hide it.Im assuming your using a magnetic hidakey box sort of thing.
